Essential Packing List for the Moroccan Desert
Essential Packing List for the Moroccan Desert
Lightweight, breathable shirts (long sleeves) – for sun protection
Loose cotton pants or linen trousers – keep cool and modest
Thermal layer or fleece – for cold desert nights
Light jacket or windbreaker – desert wind can be chilly
Comfortable walking shoes or sandals – for the dunes
Flip-flops or slides – perfect for the campsite
Socks (yes, even in the desert!) – especially if you're wearing boots
Undergarments & sleepwear – bring layers
Avoid dark colors—they attract heat. Earthy tones blend beautifully with the surroundings!

Accessories – Pack Like a Nomad
Turban or scarf (cheche) – protects you from sun, wind, and sandstorms
Wide-brimmed hat or cap – optional, but helpful
Sunglasses – a must for the blinding sun
Small backpack or day bag – for water, snacks, and camera
Swimsuit – some desert camps have pools or hammams!

Toiletries & Personal Care
Sunscreen (high SPF) – the desert sun is intense
Lip balm with SPF – cracked lips are common
Wet wipes & tissues – water is limited at camps
Toothbrush & toothpaste
Travel-size soap or sanitizer
Basic medications (ibuprofen, motion sickness, stomach care)
Moisturizer or argan oil – the dry air sucks moisture from your skin
Bug repellent – not always needed, but good to have

Electronics & Extras
Phone & charger (plus power bank) – charging may be limited
Headlamp or flashlight – desert camps get dark
Camera – for the stunning sunrise & landscapes
Reusable water bottle – stay hydrated
Notebook or journal – to capture thoughts in silence
Cash – for tips or purchases (no ATMs in the dunes!)

What You Don’t Need
Heavy jackets – unless it’s peak winter (Dec–Feb)
Makeup & beauty products – sand will win
Jeans – too heavy and hot
Bulky bags – space is limited on camels or 4x4s
Too many clothes – you'll wear the same things!
